Turning Torso, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, gets our vote as one of the coolest new buildings to spring up in a long time. It's located in Malmö, Sweden, a 54-floor tower of commercial space and residential apartments. What's so striking it is its form -- nine cubes stacked and staggered to represent a human body in a twisting motion, thus the name. Based on a marble sculpture by the architect, Twisting Torso, which is made out of concrete, has a genuinely thrilling form. And it's not often that the words 'concrete' and 'thrilling' appear in the same sentence.
