Joan Didion and John Gregory Dunne, writers, married to each other forever, sit down to dinner one ordinary night and with no warning, Dunne drops dead. Didion describes what follows in her memoir The Year of Magical Thinking in which acute, traumatic loss is depicted along with a celebration of a long, successful marriage. The work has now been adapted as a theatrical piece starring Vanessa Redgrave, and is coming to Broadway for a limited run of 24 weeks, with performances beginning March 6th. It's not often that two figures as formidable as Didion and Redgrave, both at the height of their powers, join forces. We expect it to be a smash of the titans. Ticket info.
