Thom Browne won the most recent Council of Fashion Designers of America award for menswear designer of the year. In his short time in the fashion world (he originally wanted to be an actor) he's burned himself a place in fashion iconography for his narrow suits with short trousers. It’s a stylistic mashup of Darren Stevens (from "Bewitched"), pocket-protector geekiness, and emo rockers. The suits surely don't look good on everyone, but that's not the intention. They do inject some idiosyncratic excitement into the listless world of suit design, and add a note of strangeness, too. The designer's website confirms this with a video that has no particular meaning as far as we can tell, but is as coolly, strangely atmospheric as anything you've seen lately.
