I Did Not Know That Yesterday! is a website that answers questions you didn't know you had.
Each time we check out the site, we think 'yeah, why did popcorn become part of movie going? Or why is normal vision called 20/20? Or are there any countries in the world without a McDonald's? (By their count: 98 of 'em!) And this is something we did always wonder about: what was the first item ever sold on eBay (or AuctionWeb as it was first called)?
Answer: a broken laser pointer, for which someone paid $14 in 1995.
