Jane Smiley, novelist (and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for A Thousand Acres), has a new book out today called Ten Days in the Hills. It opens on the morning after the 2003 Academy Awards, in the home of a writer/director. A house party is about to get underway, the Iraq war already has, and Smiley mixes Hollywood, sex (lots of sex), and politics in her richly entertaining way.
