stuff to buy stuff to do stuff to see

The word in Broadway circles is that ticket sales for the new play Frost/Nixon, beginning previews on March 31, have been sluggish.

Puzzling, because this production seems to have everything going for it. It stars Frank Langella and Michael Sheen, who played Tony Blair in the movie The Queen. And the play was written by Peter Morgan, who wrote both The Queen and The Last King of Scotland.

It's the story of the series of interviews conducted by David Frost with Nixon, post-resignation: how the interviews came to be, what each man needed from them, and what they ultimately revealed.

The reviews from the West End, in which both Langella and Sheen starred, were like this: "a colossal hit," "magnificent central performances," "a terrific new play that is as thought-provoking as it is gripping and entertaining, "a sharp, witty and haunting production."

You may also find certain resonances in the current political climate. We're just sayin'...
