Never mind all that business about life handing you a lemon, so make lemonade. For June Taylor, if you're handed a lemon, you make marmalade.
And conserves, and fruit butters. Based in Berkeley, California, she's a true food artisan, often using heirloom fruits from local farmers. The fruit is hand-cut, and everything is made in small batches. Pound for pound, we think she's the best jam maker in the country.
It's all amazingly good -- but bergamot marmalade, Meyer lemon and lime marmalade, and blackberry conserve make us incredibly happy at breakfast.
One other thing to know about June Taylor: she offers one-day, hands-on jam-making classes throughout the year. Details here.
