Danish Renaissance man Piet Hein (1905-1996) makes just about anyone's resume pale by comparison: scientist, author, mathematician, game inventor, sculptor, designer. Other stuff, too.
It's his contribution to happy hour though that we want to take up this morning. Piet Hein was particularly enamored of the ellipse as a shape and among his inspirations was an elliptical stainless steel drink cooler with a liquid core. It will cool a single malt without diluting it. Genius. And it's a beautiful object in its own right.
Who'd want an ice cube after one of these? $36.
