Rosemarie Fiore is an artist with a restless imagination.
The 34-year-old New York state native takes an idea and runs with it, really runs with it, whatever the medium. That may give some extra resonance to a series of ceramics that imagined a Wile E. Coyote/Roadrunner pursuit with alternate endings: the roadrunner always gets nailed. The series is called "Death Scenes."
For another project, Ms. Fiore connected a gas generator and air compressor to buckets of paint. These buckets were attached to a Scrambler amusement park ride, which was then set into motion. The paint then sprayed onto tarps beneath in interesting patterns.
Her recent Firework Drawings may be our favorite yet. Get this: Fiore contains and then explodes fireworks against paper, assembling the resulting circles of color into arresting abstracts.
