5 Takes is a travel reality show -- "The Amazing Race" without the race.
The idea of this Discovery show is to follow five 30-something travelers over a period of a couple of months in a region of the world. They get $50 a day to live on. As always with reality TV, you'll like some of your travel companions better than others. You get to know them from the show itself, as well as their blogs and vlogs. And in the meantime, you get to do some fun armchair traveling. (Lots of clips are available on the website.)
There have been three seasons so far, each in a different region (Europe, Pacific Rim, U.S.) and each with a different group of travel journalists (as the show calls them). Next up is Latin America. If you're in the NYC area and you want to be on the next season as one of the five, there's an audition tomorrow, April 18. Details are here.
