There's an harmonic convergence in Scotland at the end of every summer.
Some of the world's premier theater, opera, dance, music companies, and performers brave the haggis to appear at the Edinburgh International Festival.
Tickets go on sale this Saturday for a lineup that includes a concert version of "Candide," "L'Orfeo," conducted by Jordi Savall, and "Impressing the Czar," choreographed by William Forsythe, one of the world's great choreographers. For theater-lovers, the big-ticket item is likely to be the new version of Euripides' "The Bacchae" starring Alan Cumming.
The festival runs from August 10 to September 2.
