stuff to buy stuff to do stuff to see

Through playlists and a music search engine, Project Playlist can introduce you to new music -- a social music experiment they call it.

Project Playlist points to mp3 files on record label websites, music blogs, artist websites, and online magazines -- from which you can build a playlist, listen to songs, and share the list with others. This isn't file sharing -- the site condones only songs authorized by artists and labels to be played across the web.

It's one more piece of evidence that the music industry is undergoing a seismic shift in the way music is created and distributed. In this case, marketing is in the hands of the listener. We'll be watching to see how it all plays out.
