stuff to buy stuff to do stuff to see

Director/choreographer Stanley Donen may not have the highest name recognition of Hollywood's classic directors, but his resume includes Singin' in the Rain, On the Town, Funny Face, and Charade. He also directed Two for the Road, a non-musical pic starring Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney about a relationship -- a non-linear story (and a rather rueful one) told through the couple's European travels over a decade. We think it's a wonderful, if overlooked movie. (It's available on DVD).

Until yesterday, one Donen pic not on DVD was Bedazzled, starring Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. It's a comedy in which Cook plays the devil who grants Moore's wishes in a classic case of 'be careful what you wish for.'

A delight.
