Here's the coolest digital offering we've seen in a long time.
It's from Avis and it's called Avis Connect. For $10.95 a day, you can rent a small gizmo that plugs into the car's cigarette lighter. It turns your car into a WiFi hotspot with no additional fees, cards, or software. Passengers can turn it on and surf the web, just like that. Or you can pull off the road and shoot off an email. You can also take the thing into a hotel room for the same effect. Sweet.
It was introduced this week at San Francisco Airport and San Jose Airport, with more locations to follow.
