Indulge us in a little nostalgia.
We love vinyl: slipping the record out of its sleeve, gently placing the needle on the rim and hearing that familiar crackle when the first song starts. Of course, we also love our mp3 player: a sixth of the size of a record, with about 2000 times more music.
What we don't love is that our vinyl collects dust, with so many albums unavailable as CDs or downloads, so we're very excited about the Ion USB Turntable, a gizmo that lets you transfer your vinyl directly to mp3 (or WAV) files.
Just plug the turntable into your Mac or PC computer, dig out your old 45s, 33s or 78s and use the software included to split and name tracks, and even clean up pops and crackles -- though did we mention how much we love those?
