One souvenir building is kitsch. Many souvenir buildings are a collection.
We got hooked some years ago on those mini-Eiffel towers and mini-Empire State Buildings, only to find out we weren't alone. Not only that, there's a huge range of choice and quality for the architectural replicas.
Some people only buy from places they visit. Others troll for vintage ones on eBay. To jump-start a collection, we like InfocusTech. They've got everything from the Burj al Arab hotel in Dubai to the National Cash Register building (with its cash register dome) from the 1939 World's Fair.
Should you get hooked, you'll want to know about the Souvenir Buildings Collectors Society, which hosts an annual convention. This year's is in Dallas, from June 22-24.
