There's an auction coming up on May 20th at Rago Arts in New Jersey that sculpture fans should note, whether or not in you're in the market to pick up a little statue.
It's called "The Reingold Collection: 100 Years of American Sculpture," and you can browse through the more than 250 works by such sculptors as Frederick MacMonnies, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Daniel Chester French, Paul Manship, Malvina Hoffman, and Elie Nadelman.
Two dozen or so pieces are estimated at under $1000, which may bear out Arts and Antiques' recent description of American sculpture as a "sleeping giant."
