Don't judge a book by its cover. Ah, but you can certainly judge a cover by its book.
Take a look at the website Book Covers and see if you don't agree that some of the best, most interesting work in design these days is on book jackets.
What's particularly enlightening is the discussion thread, mostly by fellow designers, that accompanies each work. If it were a similar board of, say, theater people, the comments would be filled with poisonous (though amusing) daggers. But the designers who weigh in tend do so with thoughtful, respectful comments and suggestions.
It's hard to browse these covers and not think, "What a lot of talent!"
