You're four albums into your acoustic rock-folk career. You've toured with the likes of Ani DiFranco and Andrew Bird. What do you do next? An album of WWII-era Tin Pan Alley tunes, of course.
The punky Erin McKeown has always hovered just under the radar, but that may well change as her new album spreads: "Sing You Sinners" is a stripped-down, spirited acoustic set of standards (like the Garland chestnut "Get Happy") and little-known delights (such as "Rhode Island is Famous for You" or the French tune "Coucou"), all firmly lodged in the genre's tradition but modern and fresh-sounding, somehow.
And you can see her live this summer -- she's got a lot of concert dates coming up. Check out her schedule here.
