stuff to buy stuff to do stuff to see

Full of Grace is an unusual and affecting book of photographs.

The subject is the evolution of children's place in society over the past 150 years. Though it covers such serious issues as child labor, exploitation, and hunger, it also features many of the positive advances in children's status. You'll also find joy, innocence, optimism -- indeed, all that's best in human nature.

That the book has such a wide lens is due to the extraordinary collection of photographers who are in evidence here: Cecil Beaton, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Dorothea Lange, Gordon Parks, Irving Penn, Alfred Stieglitz, and Paul Strand, to name a few.

The book, which was edited by Raymond Merritt (he also wrote the accompanying text), is published by the Cygnet Foundation. All proceeds go to UNICEF.
