Those with an unquenchable thirst for the new and the cutting edge in fashion already know about Refinery29.com, the online magazine devoted to "independent style, defined and refined" (we think of it as the ultimate guide to downtown, in every city you could ever want to visit).
So when we heard that Refinery29 had launched Refinery29Shops, adding a retail scheme to its mini-empire -- and bubbling up wares by indie designers for your 24/7 shopping pleasure -- we lost no time in bookmarking the thing. Refinery's got nearly every category covered, with apparel for men and women (a kids section and an outlet area are in the works), as well as gadgets, home furnishings, books and music, all expertly curated with the R29 sensibility we've come to crave.
A recent swing-by left us drooling over a pair of sweet arrow-shaped silver stud earrings from In God We Trust, a plaid jumper dress by Steven Alan, an Abahna natural wax candle from Woodley & Bunny, and the Dad in a Box kit, from New York throwback Freeman’s Sporting Club.
In keeping with R29's mission to create a virtual marketplace, you'll also find bios for, and interviews with, some of the designers themselves; we also like the Style Sheets, where said designers run down their shopping picks from the website.
