stuff to buy stuff to do stuff to see

For reasons that we are at a loss to explain, Anya Hindmarch's I'm Not A Plastic Bag bags have become a pop culture phenomenon, selling out in a nanosecond everywhere they turn up (there have even been lines of people waiting to buy a new shipment).

We're all for the sentiment, but these frankly unattractive bags are not exactly the only way to show your green credentials on a daily basis. A much more stylish way to lug the celery and pasta sauce is available from Baggu.

Not only will Baggu bags hold the contents of up to three plastic bags, they've been designed thoughtfully -- with things like handles that work well in your hand, on your forearm, or over your shoulder. These schleppers hold a lot, but fold away into a small pouch. They sit flat when filled. And of course using one takes the place of hundreds of disposable bags a year.

Baggus, $8, are made of strong nylon, come in eight colors, and a storage pouch is included. And if you want to be smug about it, you can scribble in a corner 'I'm not a I'm Not a Plastic Bag bag.'

Thank you!Thank you!All of the hype associated with that Hindmarch bag was ridic. Waiting on line for hours? I don't think so.I am a self-confessed "bag whore", who loves inexpensive and useful totes. Being able to stow this in my purse, is a big plus.

loved the Baggus. Designed b y women , not sweat shop in China, pretty colors. I looked up the Hindmarch bags which are really ugly...especially the inconsistent typefaces on the motto. And finding out they are made by poor labor in China doesn' t help.

Reminds me of people who have to wear their clothing logos on their sweats to show how trendy they are, whereas people with real class don't have a need to prove anything.

Excellent information. Someone finally designed a bag for a human being to carry in their hand. Oh yeah, they are good for the environment too. Nice.
