Screen-stealer alert: We first noticed apple-cheeked newbie Elizabeth Reaser in Family Stone, the lukewarm Sarah Jessica Parker rom-com, and then on "Grey's Anatomy" as (the surgically reconstructed face of) a pregnant woman who almost perishes in a ferry accident.
The Michigan native lit up the screen, so we figured (and hoped) we'd see more, and she stars in two small (but smart) projects that just hit DVD. Puccini For Beginners (trailer here) is standard chatty-New-Yorkers-in-love fare, with Reaser torn between sweet glassblower Gretchen Mol and studly prof Justin Kirk, while Sweet Land (trailer) casts her as a German mail-order bride shipped to 1920s Minnesota, with disastrous, dramatic results (and Alan Cumming co-starring).
