stuff to buy stuff to do stuff to see

You've heard a tune in a TV commercial and it's driving you crazy -- what is that song? There are several sites that will help you track it down: Music from TV Commercials, What's That Called, and Ad Tunes are three that will do the trick.

But we're fans of Hand Coding, which has what has to be one of the longest-running threads on the web. It started with a post about music in commercials on April 29, 2002 (five years in web time is, of course, an eternity) and has continued with comments as recent as this morning. The community that has sprouted will answer queries such as "Help! Does anyone know what the song in the Crest White Strips commercial is?" Someone usually does.

As someone whose job it is to GET songs into commercials, i am happy to see you promoting these sites. Its frustrating for us in the music industry, as we have recognized that consumers want this information, yet the ad agencies rarely 'chyron'.

I have been trying to track down a tune for years. Most recently I have heard it in the Crest White Strips commercial, but earlier in the year Amtrak used it, and three years ago CBS used it for their closing video on Tour de France.
