It's been six years since Suzanne Vega released an album but her new work "Beauty & Crime" makes the wait irrelevant: it's a beauty all right, and, if there's any justice, it will introduce her to a generation of music buyers who were but a twinkle when she released her first album in 1985.
This time out, Ms. Vega is recording on Blue Note records and has British producer Jimmy Hogarth behind the console. It's a sweet combo -- Ms. Vega sounds great, her songs are as thoughtful, tender, and interesting as ever, and the vibe of the whole project is fresh and of-the-moment.
To support the album, Ms. Vega is touring extensively -- the schedule is here. Catch her if you can.
