It's not often we write about a college student.
Will Stratton, though, is clearly not your average undergrad (he's currently at Bennington). Channeling cult-favorite Nick Drake, he's released his first album called "What The Night Said," a collection of quiet, rueful melodies and searching lyrics.
Stratton plays guitar and piano on the album, among other instruments, including banjo. In this, he calls to mind another cult fave, Sufjan Stevens, who turns up on the album to accompany two songs on oboe.
Nighttime and its meanings flow through these songs, and that's just the time Stratton sounds best: on the grass, among the fireflies, under the stars.
