In "Intimate Encounters," she tackled the notion that sex and disability don't mix, taking pictures of more than 40 subjects (each suffering from a physical or mental disability) in a variety of sexualized settings. In "Becoming Woman," she photographed one man's journey towards womanhood, documenting every step of the painful -- but life-giving -- transition.
And recently she was in New York City to shoot two firemen as part of a new work in progress, an exploration of burn victims she's calling "Beyond the Burn."
Australian photographer Belinda Mason-Lovering says she's only holding up a mirror to real life, and we hope she keeps on doing so. Check out her arresting exhibits in full at her website, or see Intimate Encounters on display at New York's Museum of Sex through September 16.
