Darren Hayes was one-half of the popular '90s Australian band Savage Garden. A lot has happened since then: The band split up and Hayes was left with no record deal; He came out publicly, and now lives in England with his husband, Richard.
As he writes in this month's issue of Genre, "Things are great." There's proof in his new single, "On the Verge of Something Wonderful" that sounds like a hit to our ears. It's a great, addictive tune, with the potential for a long afterlife. Hayes sounds terrific, too, sealing the deal with the falsetto on the words "cold and gray" at the end.
