The name first.
The Norwegian figurative painter Odd Nerdrum is the inspiration -- and if your name is David Madson from Cincinnati, a nod to the painter and the reversal of your last name gives you a memorable hook.
And speaking of hooks, Odd Nosdam throws in a fuzzy, funky kitchen sink of hooks, riffs, beats, loops, and samples of found sounds to create audio collages that straddle electronica, hip-hop, and none of the above.
He's got a new album out tomorrow called "Level Live Wires." It continues David from Cincinnati's journey from interesting mixer to full-fledged aural artist.
