stuff to buy stuff to do stuff to see

For a hotel that isn't scheduled to open for another two years, the Songjiang Hotel outside Shanghai has gotten a lot of attention.

That's for a couple of reasons. The first is that it's jaw-dropping. Atkins won the international design competition with its plans for a luxury hotel set within a water-filled quarry. And water will be everywhere, from an underwater restaurant facing an aquarium to natural and transparent glass waterfalls.

The other distinction of the hotel is its environmental cred, including green roofing and geothermal energy extraction -- sustainability is integral to the design.

China is on a lot of travel itineraries these days; this hotel promises to be another reason to visit.
