Three years ago, Jon Buonaccorsi and Shea'la Finch looked around them and saw that a lot of their very talented artist friends had no channel to sell their work -- and that others, the ones who wanted to start collecting artwork, couldn't really afford to do so.
So they created Tiny Showcase, whose process is simple: Once a week, they select a piece of art from among the submissions they receive. Rhode Island-based io labs, ltd. creates a limited run (about 200) of small-format prints (about 5"x5") using acid-free Hahnemühle German etching paper and specially-treated ink, giving each print a 60-year archival lifespan.
Then on Tuesdays, at 7:30PM, the run goes on sale "for the price of a CD or book" (fair warning: they tend to sell out fast). The best part? A percentage of the proceeds from each print is donated to a charity chosen by the artist.
