Faythe Levine, an artist and filmmaker, has logged nearly 20,000 miles, documenting the crafts movement in the country.
Having done the grand tour of craft fairs, galleries, boutiques, and visited with the crafters themselves, Ms. Levine is creating a movie about the process of those indie crafts people, the artists, artisans, and designers. The forthcoming documentary is called Handmade Nation and you can watch an eight-minute clip about Ms. Levine's process.
And if you think of crafts as terminally unhip, you've missed out on the past 10 years. There's a lot of interesting and cool DIY stuff from coast to coast.
