They Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron, founded by Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, has been around since 1978, but the work they've been doing lately has been, to use that technical term, gangbusters.
The transformation of the former power station on the bank of the River Thames into the Tate Modern, completed in 2000, is an extraordinary achievement.
Then there's the firm's contextually sensitive work on the De Young Museum in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, completed in 2005.
In Barcelona, they're the designers behind the instantly iconic Forum Building. And they designed the Beijing National Stadium, nicknamed the "bird's nest" (for reasons that are apparent when you see it), the centerpiece of the 2008 Olympics.
