One day after September 11, 2001, a woman from Boston made her way to the red doors of Engine 32 near Ground Zero and offered her services as an Alexander Technique bodywork practitioner.
In the recently published Rescue at Engine 32, Jessica Locke tells the story of the five years she spent traveling to New York to her 'adopted' firehouse, supporting the heroes who work there.
After it became apparent to Ms. Locke that the medical and post-traumatic needs of that day's first responders were not being met, she created the nonprofit Jessica Locke Firefighters Fund to provide financial, medical and emotional support to NYC firefighters.
Part of the proceeds from Rescue at Engine 32 go to support the fund.
