Until December, the third annual Route 07: Scion Independent Film Series screens one indie film per month in Atlanta, Austin, Washington D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, and Seattle.
This year, the movies center on hip-hop, rock, and electronic music, and street art cultures. They include Bling with Kanye West, a documentary that looks at the relationship between hip-hop and the civil war in Sierra Leone, and the classic Paris is Burning, Jenny Livingston's documentary about some very alternative fashion runways that were the birthplace of voguing (and on which Pepper Labeija makes an indelible impression).
There will be screenings of short films before the feature and a Q & A with the filmmakers afterwards.
