A feel-good flick? Hardly.
But Stephanie Daley, a movie that came and went this year in a quiet flash -- and is now out on DVD -- has much to recommend it. It's the story of a teenager, played by Amber Tamblyn, accused of murdering her newborn baby.
The essence of the movie, though, is the interaction between a psychologist (Tilda Swinton) and the teen. As it happens, the shrink is not only pregnant, but still grieving over a stillborn child.
Yes, it's a bit dialectic, though the caliber of the performances, and the willingness to deal thoughtfully with some uncomfortable issues makes this a worthy movie, and, not incidentally, compelling to watch.
