Writer's strike got you down? Here's one sure-fire way to pass your sitcom-watching hours feeling no pain.
Mary Tyler Moore and her cohorts performed one of the wittiest, best written TV comedies ever and four of the seven seasons are out on DVD. Even though what we consider the greatest sitcom episode of all time, "Chuckles Bites the Dust," is from a later season, you'll still be able to watch some wonderful half-hours.
There's "The Dinner Party" from Season Four, the best -- meaning the worst -- of Mary's parties (Veal Prince Orloff figures prominently), the episode with Ted Baxter and Walter Cronkite, and from Season One, the one in which Mary dates a short man, and of course the premiere episode (Mr. Grant to Mary: "You've got spunk! I hate spunk")...it goes on and on.
If only Fox would release the rest of the seasons!
