Here's a cheerful blast of warm air from Nashville -- The Silver Seas is a band of four guys who channel 70s country rock with an indie sensibility and a knack for irresistible melodies.
Lead singer/songwriter Daniel Tashian says the band's second album "High Society," just re-released on their new label, has sitcom theme songs as a primary influence. And the opener, "Country Life," makes that case most clearly.
But if you're expecting skin-deep, throwaway tunes -- that's not what The Silver Seas is up to here. These are fully-fleshed songs about love and longing, constructed in offbeat ways, under a deceptively simple veneer. But you can also just kick back and let it all wash over you. That works, too.
