stuff to buy stuff to do stuff to see

Unless they're presiding over a cocktail party in Auntie Mame, chandeliers strike us as too fussy to pull off in the average dwelling -- all those spangly, glitzy pieces to keep clean.

But we're strangely drawn to Tom Iglehart's take on them: the Scottish artisan fashions his gas-lamp chandeliers out of reclaimed bottles and steel crown caps, creating one-of-a-kind steampunk pieces that would feel right at home in a Brothers Quay film. Did we mention Iglehart's atelier is in a treehouse?

Chandeliers run from about £250 to £400, and can be purchased by emailing through the website directly.
