Four things to know about Kate Nash:
1. The London-based singer-songwriter first picked up the guitar after she was immobilized by a broken foot. Housebound and bored, she began posting songs on MySpace.
2. Her cheeky lyrics and bouncy synth-pop remind you a bit of another English 20-something, right? No surprise that Nash's popularity snowballed when Lily Allen linked to her webpage from her own.
3. Nash's foot is barely healed, and yet in less than half a year she's already signed a deal with Polydor's Fiction Records, played Glastonbury and aced the U.K. rite-of-passage must that is performing on "Later With Jools Holland."
4. Tracks you'll want on repeat: "Pumpkin Soup," "Merry Happy," and "Foundations," which hit No. 2 on the U.K. singles chart. They're on Nash's MySpace page, and the album Made of Bricks is available as an import via Amazon.
