Cat Power, the stage name of Chan Marshall, has become both a critics' darling and an indie music fan favorite, thanks to her instantly recognizable sound and her famous unease when performing live.

In 2000, she released a well-received album of covers that hat-tipped everyone from Dylan to Nina Simone. Next week, she's releasing a second cover album, called "Jukebox," that honors vocalists who have influenced her. Predictably, it's an unpredictable mix: Billie Holiday, James Brown, Hank WilIiams, even Liza Minnelli and Frank Sinatra. The deluxe version of the album includes several extra tracks.
