stuff to buy stuff to do stuff to see

Though we've put the Fisker Karma in the 'Stuff to Buy' category, we know that it's not likely to be flying off the shelves (or out of the dealer's lot) any time soon.

First off, this new high-style hybrid is expected to sell for a starting price of $80,000, so that rules us out. And it's not available yet (it was just unveiled at the Auto Show in Detroit). But it's a sleek-looking ride that can give its owners 50 miles a day emission-free.

So even if we never own one, we think it's a good sign that luxury auto makers are also going green. It should be one more bit of pressure for the mainstream Detroit automakers to adopt and develop technologies for the rest of us. [Note that Fisker's website was down as we went to publish.]
