In ancient times, the best way to expand your musical tastes was to go into a record store, find the most Nick Hornby-type music geek, and pick his (it was almost invariably a guy) brain.
The web, of course, has changed all that. And new services continue to launch for just that purpose, falling loosely under the category 'social music' -- which boils down to sharing finds. Here's a Trio of them.
Sign up for iJigg (free) and you can discover new music and download free MP3s.
At finetune, it's all about playlists -- they have over 500,000 of them. Register (free) and you can create your own playlists and even share them on your blog.
The idea behind is Museeker is to "bring artists and listeners closer together." The company is based in Sweden and there are lots of that country's musicians on hand -- a good thing considering that Sweden has become the world's best musical farm team.
