Ah, the wonders of the internet. Unless we had struck gold at a flea market, how else would we have come across the Weight Watcher diet recipe cards from the 1970s that make everything look repulsive. Fish balls, chicken liver bake, and a melon mousse -- all of them as hilariously grim-looking as can be imagined (and many as you could never imagine).
And you never have to be without the food-glorious-food images again, since they've been collected in a book version called The Amazing Mackerel Pudding Plan: Classic Diet Recipe Cards from the 1970s. Looking at these delights, we have to conclude that they are in some way a success. They make everything edible look so unappealing you might not eat for days.
